We are pleased to announce that we are now a Recognized training centre to present Level 1 and level 2 powerboat training. Hopefully in a short while we will also be holding Intermediate and advanced Power boat courses.

We have 3 Training RIBS which are all MCA coded, and fully equipped. The courses will be run throughout the year and every other weekend, please see dates.

The Level 2 powerboat course is the most popular course in the scheme. It is mainly practical with the emphasis on boat handling and safety at sea. Basic theory is covered to enable those who are new to boating to undertake short coastal passages. This includes the collision regulations, IALA buoyage, basic tidal knowledge, and seamanship.

This is a 2-day course, maximum 3 students per boat.

With this course you will automatically qualify for the ICC up to 10 metres
We also offer a direct assessment for those experienced power boaters who are seeking to gain a recognized qualification. The direct assessment takes half a day. Please note this is not a training course and your level of knowledge should be such that the assessor is content that you are at the standard required.

The Intermediate Powerboat course is aimed at those that want to have a better understanding of chart work, passage planning and IRPC lights and day shapes.

The advanced course is designed for those who want to sharpen their skills, and perhaps use the qualification to work in the commercial field. An assumed level of knowledge to Coastal Skipper/yacht master offshore is a prerequisite. We can arrange your practical examination and guide you through the progression to the commercially endorsed Certificate of Competence
